Researching Sustainable Tourism in Prague

Matthew Richards, Damon Chase, Jack Wildgoose, William Plunkett
This project documented how key tourist stakeholders in Prague (Prague citizens, tourists, tourist organizations, local businesses) perceive tourism and what changes they hope to see. The team conducted field observations in high-traffic areas and surveyed tourists along a section of the Royal Way between Charles Bridge and Old Town Square. Businesses at varying distances from major attractions were interviewed about their reliance on tourism and views on tourism. Residents were surveyed in person in Prague 5 and 9. We also surveyed local Czechs and international visitors through Facebook groups. Organizations involved in tourism were contacted for interviews and potential collaboration. The collected data was analyzed and compiled into informational packets for interested stakeholders.
