Prague is a city with rich and vibrant culture. One can see traditional Czech cultural activities, such as music, theater, or art, while at the same time modern conveniences. The city is full of elegant architecture from many different time periods, blending together to make a beautiful city. Walking through the town can often feel like a fairy tale.

Traditions and Holidays

The streets become full of cheer, and the smell of delicious food, like chicken and pork schnitzel, fill the air. People flood the streets, sipping hot wine, eating delicious food, and enjoying festive songs and lights. Other important holidays and events include Easter, Čarodějnice, and the Anniversary of the Velvet Revolution.

Christmas is a time of celebration in Prague. Christmas markets show up in the city as vendors sell handmade goods, food, and other potential gifts. The city becomes covered in lights, trees, and Christmas decorations.

Transportation

Prague has excellent public transportation, so getting around the city is not difficult. There is also an extensive train system, allowing travel across the country.

Unlike American subways which have trains arriving every 5-15 minutes, Czech Republic trains often arrive in intervals of 3-5 minutes. Their public transportation system is excellent and is used by upwards of two thirds of the population.

“Traveling Like a Local”

Because Prague is such a beautiful city, it can receive 10 million tourists per year. This places a burden on the city and its citizens, particularly as local businesses may cater to these tourists.
