Creating Videos for the National Technical Museum

The goal of this project was to create promotional videos for each of the sixteen permanent exhibitions at the National Technical Museum (NTM). To achieve this goal, information was collected through museum visitor surveys and museum employee interviews. Based on this information, we created initial prototype videos (one 20-second social media video and one 60-second website video). These initial prototype videos were created for one permanent exhibition and subsequently shown to museum employees and a focus group of WPI students, who responded to open-ended questions aimed at identifying weaknesses in the prototype videos. After weaknesses and improvements were identified in the prototype videos, changes were made to the prototype and were implemented in the videos created for the remaining fifteen exhibitions. Future recommendations include how to improve the NTM website, more language accommodations, and suggestions for more frequent and engaging social media updates.
